Whether you prefer getting a massage on a breezy beach or getting one near a cozy fireplace or whether you like a “jackhammer massage” or one that sends you off to the land of nod, how often should you schedule a massage?
Once a week, once a month, once every six months, once a year, only when you’re beyond tense?
I know when I win millions in the lottery, I’ll have massages every day because I love how relaxed I feel afterward. Until then, I take my cue from my hair stylist and esthetician friends.
It’s easy to schedule hair appointments on a set schedule of every 6, 8, 10 or 12 weeks. You know when your hair is getting too long and the style loses its shape or when your roots are showing or when the color starts to fade and you know it’s time to make an appointment at your favorite salon. And many people book their hair appointments well in advance to avoid disappointment down the line. Same goes for facials, waxing, manicures and pedicures.
So why not schedule your massages in advance also? If you can swing it, try to work a massage in once a month to start and then you’ll see how regular massages really make a difference in your stress levels.
Massages aren’t just a once in a blue moon thing and getting regular massages will help with pain management, insomnia, sports injuries, pregnancy, headaches, arthritis, and asthma just to name a few common experiences.
